In a season filled with exciting games not seen in years, newcomers Big Apple Flickers and newly crowned JFK Tournament winners TSF won the women's and men's league titles respectively. The competitiveness of the season continued through the final day when both titles were decided. Tri-State regained the league title after relinquishing it last year to this year's runners up Greenwich Men 1. Both TSF and BAF needed only a tie going into the final week to be crowned champions. In the TSF versus Jersey men's game, TSF was all business from the opening whistle. They trounced a depleted Jersey team 12-1 and sent a clear and ominous signal to the other teams that they are prepared to retain the knockout trophy this weekend. Captained by former national U20 player Jamal Grovesnor and supported by current Barbadian national Leroy Mayers, former US National Godfrey Christie and the wily veteran Kesley Stephenson, all combined to ensure victory was theirs.

The Nigel Traverso-coached new league entrants, Big Apple Flickers, also needed a tie versus Greenwich Women 2 in the final week to gain their first hold on the league trophy. A loss by BAF and a win by Greenwich Women 1 would have placed BAF a point behind GrnW1. Led by Captain Christine Hutchinson and great support from Sue Bing and Monique Horshaw, Big Apple Flickers went in search for the early goal. GrnW2, playing their best game of the season, didn't make it easy for BAF as they had to fight all the way to achieve their goal. Eventually, BAF's relentlessness paid off in the end as they came out 3-0 winners to capture the league title. They will face past perennial champions Islanders in the playoffs, which should be exciting as Islanders try to retain their hold on the playoff trophy.

A fitting climax to an exciting season, especially on the men's side as at one stage, four points separated the top four teams. Next up are the playoffs and all indications are that they are going to be just as - if not more - exciting than the league games.
